About

Stellar Racing Review looks at motor racing through the things that surround the contest: circuit layouts, car forms, paddock objects, visual identity and the experience of watching. It is for readers who enjoy racing and want to notice more than the result, as well as curious newcomers looking for a way into its visual culture.

A wider view of racing

A circuit is also a designed place; a car carries a visual language; and the signs, colours and objects around a race help people find their bearings. We explore these layers without treating them as a substitute for the sport itself.

Details before declarations

Our subjects are chosen for what a careful reader can observe, compare and understand. We favour clear explanations and useful context over sweeping claims, jargon or predictions about what will happen on track.

For curious spectators

You do not need specialist knowledge to begin. Each piece aims to make one feature easier to recognise, whether you follow racing closely or are simply drawn to the design of machines and places.
